Consulting Practice Manager Opportunity
The Europe Business Impact Team (BIT) supports the growth of Oliver Wyman Europe by seamlessly enabling regional business development and management activities are looking for a Business Impact Practice Manager to support the UK & Ireland market and Banking practices.
As the Practice Manager, you will play a central role in the management and community building of the UK&I market and Banking practices. You will act as a lynchpin, and effectively orchestrate market and practice staff (Partners, affiliated consultants, specialists) and the business support functions of Oliver Wyman (Human Capital, Finance, Marketing, Knowledge Services, ) to ensure an effective management of the market / practice.
You will work closely with the Market Head and Regional Practice Head in managing the day-to-day affairs of the business, acting as a go-to-person for all colleagues regarding market or practice-related topics.
Responsibilities:
General:
Support Market Head and Regional Practice Head in execution of day-to-day to do list
Act as central point of contact for market / practice staff (Partners, affiliated consultants and specialists), support departments and Executive Assistants, to ensure and facilitate the effective management of the market / practice
Project management:
Coordinate Europe support and market / practice colleagues to drive specific initiatives, particularly related to strategy
Manage and conduct any ad hoc initiatives in- or outside the focus market and practice, in concert with Europe Head of Business Impact
Process coordination:
Act as market or practice representative, liaising with Partners and internal support teams to ensure compliance / best practice in relevant processes, for example:
Supporting Partner objectives setting and tracking Supporting Partner and Principal promotion processes Supporting external recruitment and internal alignment and integration of new joiners Supporting key pitches, including pricing and investments Disseminating marketing material
Management meetings:
Plan and drive key internal market/practice meetings, e.g. leadership meetings, Partner meetings, all staff events, offsites etc.
Proactively prepare meetings including ownership of materials
PMO responsibilities, track actions and ensure follow-up
Communications:
Work with Market Head and Regional Practice Head in managing and maintaining communications with their teams
Work with the Partner group and Support departments to ensure all internal information is updated including email groups, intranet, knowledge management system etc.
Culture and social:
Set and deliver social calendar
Keep informal pulse on sentiment and flag issues
Experience Required:
The ideal candidate will possess 4+ years of experience in professional services, experience at a leading management consulting firm highly desirable
Experience dealing with confidential and business critical issues
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues of all levels
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, work independently as needed and meet tight business deadlines
Willingness to respond to ad-hoc requests and projects
BONUS: Understanding of UK&I strategy consulting market industry dynamics
Quantitative skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (in particular Excel)
Strong academic credentials, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Further languages helpful, but not required
