Purpose and Objective

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Business Innovations Manager to innovate and execute process & technology initiatives within the Investments team. This is a newly created role, where you'll have the opportunity to take full ownership of tasks, whilst collaborating with a variety of key stakeholders across the business. This role will suit someone who has the drive to take on initiatives to help drive business forward. We are open to individuals who have technical experience and want to move into project-based roles.

In collaboration with the Investments team, the Business Innovations Manager will propose solutions, either from a computational efficiency or mathematical perspective, to improve current processes. The Business Innovations Manager will take ownership of critical team deliverables to help gain an understanding of the intricacies of the business. This individual will receive on-the-job exposure of the critical day-to-day deliverables before playing a major role in revolutionizing them.

Role and Responsibilities

Working closely with our Investments Director, you will play a key role in the delivery of the operational transformation to enable business growth.

Initial 6 - 8 months in the role:

  • Using product management skills along with business domain knowledge, produce a prioritized backlog list of business opportunities/problems for CIOs consideration.
  • Reviewing documentation of key processes and updating them for appropriateness, while working with our Risk team for internal governance and approval.
  • Mapping existing processes, which are possible subjects for improvement, and postulate alternatives.
  • Leading the design and development of the minimal viable product that adheres to risk management principles.
  • Learning to perform and acting as a backup for key business processes, including asset liability matching calculations, liquidity monitoring, hedging instructions, asset allocations and other key processes.

8+ months evolution:

  • Embed new tools & technology as an enabler for efficiency, ensuring the processes are robust to provide a great experience for our organization.
  • Ensure the vision and strategy for our platforms and processes provide a competitive edge to PRT deals through the innovative use of technology and development methods.
  • Ownership of various projects, with responsibility for ongoing maintenance of tools and models owned by the team.

Requirements

  • Domain knowledge of Investment products, including technical knowledge of alternative product structures.
  • Broad knowledge of business areas including pricing, finance and (preferably) the PRT range of insurance products buy-in, buy-out, reinsurance.
  • CFA or FSA or equivalent by experience.
  • Project Management qualification or equivalent by experience.
  • Investments Operations experience helpful but not required.
  • Experience in agile delivery methods with specific experience of Operational Change, Data & Process modelling, mapping, continuous improvement & re-engineering.
  • Product & stakeholder management skills, including understanding strategic objectives and obtaining consensus on the roadmap.
  • Ability to identify key stakeholders and clearly communicate with them, while influencing and managing their expectations.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt easily to changing circumstances and priorities.
