Day To Day Responsibilities: maintenance/care data warehouse in cloud environment,
design/development new data, data cubes, analyzing use of data warehouse, on-call rotation (every 4weeks for 1 week)
The Business Intelligence Developer II is responsible for designing, implementing and modifying ETL (extract, transform, load) jobs and processes for University Hospitals Enterprise Data Warehouse. This individual has a well-rounded understanding of data modeling, analytical skills, the ability to identify solutions to data problems, and to communicate appropriately with the team leadership. Further job functions include helping interpret business and create technical requirements, including mapping documents to support the ETL development process, and the execution of ETL jobs. This individual has knowledge of current business intelligence and data warehousing tools and can support the implementation of those tools.
Essential Duties:
- Completes analysis, development, documentation and modification of ETL processes and jobs per data architecture and modeling requirements.
- Creation of new ETL processes based on a standard architecture.
- Work with the latest and greatest technologies in the Microsoft suite of Business Intelligence tools including SQL Server, MS Azure, SSAS, etc
- Creation of SQL queries in order to extract, transform and load data into a SQL databases.
- Troubleshoot issues such as connection, failed jobs, application errors, server alerts, space thresholds, etc. within predefined SLAs.
- Proactively maintain and tune SQL code according to best practices of the EDW, to prevent issues from occurring.
- Ensure appropriate documentation for all new development and modifications of the ETL processes and jobs.
- Performs unit testing for solutions developed and ensures integrity and security of institutional data.
- Provide user support to customers of the EDW and reporting technologies.
- Collaborates with technical and non-technical internal resources to produce and support analytics and transaction level reports, dashboards, and data cubes
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of University Hospitals.
- Creates visualizations in order to view data within the Data Warehouse.
- Complete other duties as assigned by team lead or manager.
- Mentoring of junior team members.
- On Call Duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- 3-5+ years experience in Business Intelligence Development.
- 3-5+ yearsin SQL Server Integration Services, Data Factory or analogous data transformation and orchestration software.
- 3-5+ years experience in SQL
- Experience with data modeling tools
- Experience creating Data Cubes
- Experience with Visualization tools (PowerBI preferred, but other such as SSRS, Tableau, MicroStrategy is adequate)
- Experience with Team Foundation Server
- Experience with SQL Server (2012 and beyond)
- Understanding of Relational and Dimensional data architecture concepts
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems related to the implementation and processing of software required.
- Ability to research and analyze information required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must have strong analytical skills with an ability to organize and communicate thoughts clearly
- 1+ yearsexperience in IT Healthcare desired
- 1+ years experience with cloud platforms/technology (e.g. MS Azure) desired - Familiarity or experience with DAX desired
- Development((link removed) PHP, Java, etc.) experience desired
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum desired
Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Business Management is preferred.
