Our Business Office Manager will lead all business office functions including admitting activities for patients, financial counseling and arrangements, data collection, and eligibility determination.

Essential Duties:

  • Directs and coordinates all admitting/registration activities to ensure that complete and accurate information is entered into the system in a timely manner.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for admission/registration of all patients.
  • Ensures patients and relatives are interviewed to obtain necessary personal and financial information and assures eligibility for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Ensures that all charge capture processes (including ancillary and other charges) is complete, accurate and posted to patient's accounts in a timely manner.
  • Reviews the out-of-pocket yield report daily to ensure that collection efforts of appropriate staff meets the hospital-specific target for upfront collections. For situations of financial difficulties, ensures that patients are given applicable information related to payment options, such as the healthcare credit line, time payments and information related to the hospital's financial assistance processes. Ensures that these financial arrangements are finalized prior to the patient's discharge.
  • Ensures full communication is given to patients of eligible days/visits and "At-Risk" notification is given to patients or the patient's guarantor, in writing when applicable in a timely manner.
  • Monitors the TAR process to ensure that all appropriate documentation required is complete, accurate and processed timely. All required TAR information is fully documented into the system in a timely manner and logged for review.
  • Monitors all self-pay accounts to ensure patients have been quoted applicable self-pay rates and that accounts are appropriately contractualized to the self-pay rate. Monitors all self-pay balances of patients on time payment plans to verify compliance with the program and contact the patient if non-compliance occurs to make further arrangements to bring the account current.
  • Designs applicable collection policies and procedures and trains appropriate staff to ensure that all collection activities are in compliance with State and Federal collection laws.
  • Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation, training and development, performance management and employee relations functions.
  • Ensures that daily bank deposits are made, prepares all information for the Centralized Business Office and works with the CBO to reconcile unapplied cash. Manages petty cash Serves as the department's fiscal manager.
  • Performs related duties, as requested.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
  • Requirements

    Education and/or Licensure High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Professional certification such as CHFP (Certified Healthcare Financial Professional) or CRCP (Certified Revenue Cycle Professional) helpful but not required.

    Experience Four years in Healthcare, preferably in a hospital setting. One year of management required. Experience managing a medical business office including verification of benefits, admitting/registration, charge capture processes, out-of-pocket yield, eligible days/visits management, self-pay management and collections preferred.

    Additional Requirements Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
