What is a Buyer/Planner?
The Buyer/Planner is the primary Supply Chain contact for a product family or department (machining, assembly, welding, etc.) and is responsible for creating and managing an accurate production schedule for internal and/or external suppliers that considers shop floor capacity, customer priorities, raw material/components, and data integrity. Engages in continuous improvement, capacity management, and product flow initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is required to have a minimum of three years of purchasing or planning experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. • Must have experience in ERP software, such as INFOR XA/ MAPICS, with experience with VPi and knowledge of MRP concepts. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plans, handles assigned parts/products and orders to support material plan, customer orders, inventory levels, and OTD (from suppliers) and OTTP (to customers).
2. Create and maintain feasible production and/or supplier plans, escalate disruptions, and can troubleshoot and resolve problems.
3. Competent in all production planning work processes and procedures for area of responsibility.
4. Proactively escalates customer issues, business system issues, data integrity issues and internal department backlog(s).
5. Maintains ERP supply chain parameters, including purchase part lead times, manufacturing lot sizes, min/max, safety stock, and other master data, as assigned.
6. Analyze supply and demand plan and develop a recommended action.
7. Thorough understanding of production and/or supplier performance metrics.
8. Manages own time effectively to complete daily work routine and objectives.
9. Recommend new ideas and willingly support change initiatives.
10. Demonstrates urgency when addressing customer requests.
11. Experience with expediting delivery of products and components from suppliers.
12. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
13. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
14. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
15. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
16. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
17. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree preferred; areas of study include business administration, supply chain, distribution management or some other relevant field. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English. • Minimum of three years of purchasing or planning experience required. • Preferred experience working in a manufacturing environment. • Must have experience in ERP software, such as INFOR XA/ MAPICS, with experience with VPi and knowledge of MRP concepts. • CPIM/CPM preferred. • Understanding and experienced in Lean Manufacturing, Kanban calculations and implementations and other replenishment solution strategies. • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, be flexible, take and follow direction and have good analytical skills. • Ability to organize data information into a user-friendly format and have the ability to work independently in a team environment. • Knowledge of Supply Chain Principles and Concepts. • Ability to multi-task and drive actions to completion under strict deadlines. • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office with above average Excel skills and the ability to analyze data. • Strong self-starter who can articulate effectively to management and peers to bring about effective change.


Physical and Technical Environment
• Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Normal vision and manual dexterity. • Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. • Normal office environment, changing deadlines, project assignments, strict time constraints. • Some travel required, exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site. • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
