Must be able to work Second Shift: 3:15 pm- 12:30 am





The CNC lead has a wide range of responsibilities, including and not limited to assuring proper routing of work through the shop, cost effective machine set-up procedures, proper tool selection and communication between the Machine Shop Manager and the machine shop employees. Shares programming responsibilities and directly reports to the Machine Shop Manager. This is a climate controlled shop.





Essential Functions:




  • Assists Machine Shop Manager in directing work through the shop.

  • Assists in designing, developing, cataloging, and maintaining tooling and fixtures used in the manufacturing process.

  • Perform set-up and run various CNC or Manual machines to assure consistent flow of work through the shop.

  • Develop and maintain part programs as necessary.

  • Instruct new employees in proper machining techniques.

  • Assist Machine Shop Manager in assuring that company safety policies are adhered to.

  • Ability to program in Mazatrol and/or Mastercam as required.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)



Supervisory Responsibilities:




  • Responsible for a team of 2nd shift Machinists



Minimum Requirements




  • Minimum of 10 years machine shop experience.

  • Must be proficient in Mazatrol and/or Mastercam programming, having the ability to program/edit, set-up and run Mazak or similar machines to specified tolerances.

  • Competent in reading and interpreting blueprints.

  • Broad knowledge of tooling requirements.

  • Must be a leader in a team environment.



Required Competencies:




  • CNC programming, Mazatrol and/or Mastercam required.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and understand tooling requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Strong understanding of machine shop operations, machine set-up procedures and a working knowledge of different materials and tooling available.

  • Capable of developing fixtures and tooling for specific uses in machine set-up

  • Have a basic, useful knowledge of AutoCAD and part-programming software.
