Needing a permanent MLT/ Medical Lab Technologist. SHIFT: 40hrs a week , Days - On Call: $1.50 on weekdays and $2.00 for weekends$40,601.00 $52,000 (Depending on years of experience)POSITION SUMMARY: Conducts routine tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, and performs related duties, following established standards and practices.POSITION ACCOUNTABLITIES: Produces accurate and reproducible results for procedures of all assigned laboratory analyses: Hematology, Serology, Blood banking, Urinalysis, Microbiology & Clinical Chemistry. Completes their share of the workload. Demonstrates behaviors that promote positive customer relations with staff, patients and visitors. Maintains current professional credentials and keeps abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Meets and/or exceeds "STAT" turn-around time. Cares for equipment in a manner consistent with manufactures and lab policy. Maintains required records, reports and statistics as directed. Receives or collects specimens and labels them appropriately; discards them after test or stores for future reference. Maintains communication with Lab Manager and subordinates both orally and in writing. Prepares reagents according to standard formulas and procedures. Resourceful, alert to opportunities for improvement in lab function; volunteers suggestions. It is your responsibility to bring any situation that you may think to be a case of Medicare fraud or abuse to the attention of the laboratory manager or hospital compliance office. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual educational requirements as required. Maintains regulatory requirements; facility policy, procedures and standards. Displays honesty and good work ethics. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Wears the appropriate PPE while working with patient specimens. Ensures confidentiality of patient's records. Attends and participates in at least 8 staff meetings per year. Communicates the mission and quality statements of the facility. Actively participates in the Department's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and the regularly scheduled proficiency testing events. Shares in on-call schedule/duties and responds to patient as soon as possible and always within 30 minutes. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Physical Demands: Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Occasionally subjected to irregular hours; pressure due to multiple on-call hours. Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Subject to many interruptions. Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to and/not limited to 50#). Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens.
