Located just 2 hours from Denver's front range areas. Yuma District Hospital provides surgical and medical services for our patients in Northeast Colorado. Yuma District Hospital is an independent critical access hospital, offering a range of medical and surgical services including skilled nursing, emergency, as well as advanced diagnostic and imagingKey Results Areas/Standards of Performance:1. Performs scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure and performs surgical counts with the circulating nurse.2. Interfaces directly with staff members at the user departments to determine need of additions or deletions in relation to supplies on hand.3. Maintains adequate amounts of supplies on hand and orders/stores stock as needed.4. Insures proper operation of sterilizer units prior to use on a daily basis.5. Processes and redistributes all instruments, equipment and supplies returned to Central Sterile Supply.6. Assists supervisor to develop and update policies and procedures for Central Sterile Supply.7. Maintains competency on all equipment used to perform tasks in Central Sterile Supply.8. Prioritizes responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.9. Shows willingness to assist in related areas that may require assistance.10. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. Must fully understand the relationship of microorganisms and infection control in Central Sterile. Able to use high-level disinfectants appropriatelyDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Decontamination of Instruments: 2. Hand wash instruments as documented by procedure 3. Operate washer / disinfectors 4. Decontaminate equipment for O.R., Clinic, PCU, and other departments. 5. Responsible for daily testing of all sterilizers. 6. Tests each sterilizer with steam load: mechanical, chemical, biological indicators. 7. Maintains records of items sterilized and tests the outcomes. 8. Properly operates the sterilizer cycles and sterilizes all instruments required 9. Instrument Assembly 10. Inspects instruments carefully. 11. Assembles instruments into correct sets; packaging, wrapping and placing in containers. 12. Maintains information on manufacturer's instructions for use.Qualifications: Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Colorado. Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room, central sterile experience preferred Must be committed to ensuring the health and safety of patients and staff Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
