Job Summary

The Mechanical Calibration Technician will be responsible for calibrating and repairing physical, mechanical, and dimensional measuring and test equipment at NASAs Kennedy Space Center. The technician will ensure the accuracy and precision of the measurements taken using this equipment.

This is a represented staff position with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

FSLA Status: Nonexempt

Travel <10%

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular calibration and maintenance of measurement and testing equipment.
  • Follow documented procedures to calibrate, adjust, and repair physical, mechanical, and dimensional measuring, and test equipment.
  • Assist in developing and validating new measurement methods, calibration procedures, and measurement uncertainty budgets.
  • Work independently with little supervision.
  • Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NASA, and Aetos safety requirements.
  • Assist in training others, as requested.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and random drug testing.
  • Ability to use a personal computer in the performance of automated calibration processes and for workload management and tracking as required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires US DOD Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Certification or equivalent.

Or

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in calibration in an aerospace environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work daily in an environmentally controlled laboratory setting.
  • Ability to occasionally work at customer sites to include outdoors.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when calibrating certain TMDE.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements including knelling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, and occasionally climbing.
