We have 300+ positions available across California state for the 2023-24 Full-Term Program. This is a climate-focused, workforce development program for emerging climate and environmental leaders. These are paid, full-time fellowshipssimilar to internshipsbut with 170-340 dedicated hours for professional development and training while receiving hands-on field experience in the climate revolution.
As part of Californias comprehensive strategy to address climate change, the Office of the Governor created the countrys first state-level climate service corps program. California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) is a national service program led by California Volunteers and implemented by Bay Area Community Resources dedicated to advancing equitable climate action that engages community members, cultivates change, and leaves a lasting impact.
CCAC Fellows serve as AmeriCorps members and are matched with organizations across California to mobilize communities members to take direct climate action through education, volunteer mobilization, and assessment focused on wildfire resiliency, urban greening, and organic waste and edible food recovery.

Fellowship Commitment: This is a full-time, 11-month, 1700-hour program from September 18, 2023 - August 15, 2024(link removed) Fellows commit to a 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional weekends depending on the project. 170-340 of these hours are dedicated to professional development.

Program Benefits:
- Receive up to a $33,000 stipend (pre-tax) spread evenly over your program term and distributed every two weeks
- Earn up to $10,000 (pre-tax) in education awards upon completion of your term
- Participate in 170-340 hours of professional development & training

- Forbearance on existing qualifying student loans and interest payments accrued during your term

- Childcare assistance from AmeriCorps paid to an eligible provider of your choice (for those eligible)
Gain Experience and Skills:

- Serve with a government agency, tribe, nonprofit, college, or university committed to climate action and volunteer service
- Ongoing opportunities for professional development, training, and coaching
- Participate in boots on the ground climate action, outreach, and volunteerism
AmeriCorps Requirements:
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
- Ability to pass all background checks prior to service, including FBI, CA Department of Justice, out-of-state (if applicable), and National Sex Offender Public Registry
Minimum Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Live in California by August 31, 2023
- Associates degree or above and/or relevant experience
- Strong commitment to the full term of service (1700+ hours)
- Ability to work in a professional office or field setting
- Robust communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or experience in climate change mitigation, volunteerism, or public service
- Experience with outreach, education, training, or community behavior change
