We are currently seeking a full-time caregiver Personal Assistant who will support a woman that experiences developmental disabilities. She is an independent, kind, and humorous woman that lives in her own apartment in SE Portland.

She really enjoys getting out in the community and doing social activities. She has an amazing sense of humor and loves to laugh. She is eager to work with personal assistants that will value time spent in the community as well as downtime in the home. You will spend time together going to movies, bowling, or eating out (especially pizza). She also values working with personal assistants that enjoy planning and participating in arts and crafts activities.

Each day, youll assist her with personal care and household tasks such as cooking meals and tidying up her apartment. She needs substantial assistance with showering, dressing, eating, and using her adaptive equipment. You will assist her in managing her health care needs including medication administration and proper care when she is ill or injured.

Youll work one shift per week totaling 42 hours: 2pm on Wednesday to 8am on Friday(link removed) *Youll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.
  • If willing, be able to drive the UCP accessible van. Training on the safe use of the UCP van will be provided. To be approved to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current drivers license, at least two years of driving experience, and a clean driving record. This is not a requirement of the position.
  • Experience in the developmental disability or mental health field preferred, but not required.

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.
  • Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.
  • Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).
