Position: CATEGORY MANAGER - Strategic Sourcing / Purchasing Our client is a diversified technology hardware, software, and solutions firm that continues to grow and lead in their sector, in search of a Category Manager to spearhead the firm's strategic sourcing and purchasing functions. This role is critical given the continued growth of the firm in both existing and new products and markets. The firm is located in Ft. Wayne IN and is targeting regional candidates who can work on site 3 or more days a week. Candidates within an easy drive (~150 miles) of northeast Indiana will receive preference, with travel / lodging compensation for those not local to Ft. Wayne.
What you'll do:
- Function as a strategic sourcer and buyer with the goal of optimizing spend and enhancing the level of service.
- Assess current suppliers per established QA process to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop / enhance sourcing relationships to meet demands for quality and quantity established by other groups in the firm.
- Provide quality assurance on materials, services, and goods as received by the company to ensure standards are met and value received.
- Approve invoices received.
- Review existing contracts and renewals and negotiate with suppliers for favorable terms.
What it takes:
- At least 7 years in progressive roles that encompass the above responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of supplier management and optimization.
- Experience in a growth-oriented and / or PE backed firm.
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, business administration, computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience. Graduate degree a plus.
- Strong experience in data analysis related to sourcing and purchasing encompassing both costs and service levels.
- At a minimum, strong skills with standard software tools such as Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Experience extracting data from systems of record. NetSuite background is a plus.
- Certifications (CPSM, etc.) and training related to sourcing and procurement are a plus.
- Attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement.
- Strong verbal communication, grace under pressure, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
