Your Role

As a Certified Medical Assistant you will provide administrative, technical, scheduling and coordination of member services in support of a team consisting of psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and psychiatrists. The Certified Medical Assistant will act as a resource to engage, connect, and educate patients and parents of patients to encourage retention in care and adherence to medical treatment.

Requirements

• 1-2 years as a Certified Medical Assistant
• Proven proficiency with Electronic Health Records
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills working with patients and providers in a virtual environment (phone, video, email, etc.)
• Ability to prioritize patient needs and triage as directed
• Assisting patients in a virtual environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Outreach to patient and/or parents of patients to confirm initial appointments and educate them on member services and process
• Obtain consents and ROIs as directed (ie., medication management agreement, refill policy, HIXNY consent, Controlled Substance Medication Agreement, etc.)
• Respond to patient/parent calls and triage as appropriate (eg., scheduling, medication refills, forms/notes, lab orders, etc.)
• Assist in outreach/coordination with PCPs and other providers (re: records requests, coordination of care, referrals, etc.)
• Manage correspondence/forms/letters (ie., work/school excuse, school medication forms, FMLA, etc.)
• Support management of prescriptions, ECGs, lab orders as directed (ie., calls to patient/parent, pharmacies, labs, etc)
• Other tasks within scope of CMA as directed
