Job Title: Certified Surgical Tech
Duties: 2 years of scrub experience on major OR procedures.
Prepare Operating Room: Ensure that the operating room is set up and ready for surgery. This involves sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with Patient Preparation: Help prepare the patient for surgery by positioning them on the operating table, covering them with sterile drapes, and ensuring proper skin sterilization.
Hand Instruments to Surgeons: Pass instruments, sutures, and other necessary items to the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure. Anticipate the surgeon's needs to maintain a smooth flow in the operating room.
Maintain Sterile Field: Maintain the sterile field during the surgery by monitoring the drapes, instruments, and equipment. Ensure that no non-sterile items come in contact with the sterile field.
Handle Specimens: Collect, label, and pass specimens obtained during surgery to the appropriate personnel for further analysis.
Assist with Dressings and Wound Closure: Assist the surgeon with applying dressings, sutures, staples, or adhesive tape to close incisions.
Operate Surgical Equipment: Operate and maintain surgical equipment such as lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment as required during the procedure.
Assist with Patient Transport: Assist in transferring the patient to a post-anesthesia care unit or recovery area after surgery.
Maintain aseptic techniques: Adhere to strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
Communicate: Maintain effective communication with the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, anaesthesiologists, and other personnel in the operating room.
Education: NBSTSA CST Certification - required (no other certifications are acceptable) Primary Source Verification - required AHA BLS - required
