Sr. Chaos Engineer

Chaos Engineering lead who combines strategic thought leadership skills, a strong development & automation background and sound business judgment. Contribute to planning, design, execution, and reporting of chaos testing. Bring industry experience and thought leadership to discover new opportunities, drive efficiencies in testing and to influence future Chaos Engineering standards and best practices.

  • Experience performing chaos testing to build confidence in the system's capability to withstand unpredictable conditions
  • Own end to end availability and performance of mission critical services
  • Contribute to robust design/architecture of the system
  • Analyze system architectures to identify single points of failure and other areas that may present a resiliency deficiency
  • Develop software to automate chaos and resiliency test cases that simulate failures in a system that performs financial data processing.
  • Integrate Chaos engineering with CI/CD process
  • Establish a process to define a hypothesis around a steady-state and to simulate real-world events.
  • Ability to analyze and debug complex issue across tiers from frontend to mid-tier to infrastructure
  • Proven use of Chaos engineering tools (e.g. Gremlin)
  • Strong understanding of Performance testing tools
  • Strong understanding of Observability tooling (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Kibana)
  • Strong understanding in API testing tools (SoapUI, Postman, Soaptest)

Related work-experience

  • 6 to 9 years of experience handling systems for large scale production environments.
  • Experienced with variety of tools that help manage, understand, and debug large, complex distributed systems.
  • Good knowledge of Unix system, web technologies, databases and public cloud systems like AWS, Networking, System.
  • Hands on experience on any Chaos tool (Litmus, Gremlin, Chaos monkey, and ChaosBlade).
  • Mindset to identify and explore chaotic situations and conduct formalized experiments.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e. g. Datadog, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience working on cross department efforts by communicating and negotiating with multiple teams to accomplish goals.
  • Expert with troubleshooting issues and bugs.
  • Programming experience (Python/Go/shell).
