SUTTER HEALTH CALIFORNIA PACIFIC MEDICAL CENTER (CPMC) CHAPLAIN STUDENT RESIDENT
RESPONSIBILITIES Workdays are M-F from 830a-5p, with a weekly evening on-call shift for additional pay, 52 weeks that begin and end in September of each year. Chaplain Student: Provide patients with supportive, reflective time to talk about how their spiritual or religious experiences and beliefs can support them in the hospital and healing process. Offer or arranges for spiritual or religious support for all faith traditions and beliefs. Provide or arranges for the practice or experience of religious sacraments and rituals. Support to patients families and loved ones so they can continue to offer their best care to the patient. Provide Spiritual Assessments outlining areas of patient needs and resources and plans of care. Share information about how the patient understands their illness or disease. Communicate how this hospitalization experience is impacting the patients healing process. Educate the team on how patients' religious or spiritual experiences and beliefs impact their healing process. Host a Tea for the Soul for clinical staff after stressful incidents. Provide staff memorial and remembrance services. Offer Religious Holy Day observance support.
CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION (CPE) TRAINING Our clinical areas span across four distinct medical facilities, each offering various specialties in healthcare. Sutter Health CPMC provides a minimum of 250 supervised clinical hours alongside 150 structured educational hours for each training unit (four per year) as required for Chaplain Board Certification. We currently offer Chaplain Student positions that include: A stipend of approximately $55,000.00. Paid time off for major holidays and personal leave. Medical, dental, and vision benefits for students and their family. 52 weeks that begin and end in September of each year. Opportunity for a second year of training in a healthcare specialty area.
QUALIFICATIONS Admission to the CPE Program is determined by the following: Completed materials as required in the ACPE application (see below) Graduate degree from an accredited institution in a related field of study At least one completed unit of CPE preferred. An Admissions interview.
