Full-time position available with the Civil Rights & Equal Opportunity Department, Economic Equity & Inclusion Division, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., *Hybrid telework schedule may be available after 6-month probationary period upon supervisor's/director's approval of application.

Responsibilities

  • Provides management, coordination, implementation, administration and operation of the Civil Rights & Equal Opportunity Departments Contract Compliance and Labor Standards Division, and supervision of the Divisions staff.
  • Monitors all public construction contracts to ensure prevailing wages are being paid and workforce goals are being met on City, State and Federal Projects. In addition, staff monitors federal contracts that have Davis-Bacon requirements, The Division also administers and monitors statutory agency projects.
  • This is a highly skilled position that requires a comprehensive interpretation of federal, state and local laws.
  • Acts as a liaison to other city departments, governmental agencies, community organizations and the private sector.
  • Exercises broad independent judgment, have problem solving skills, excellent writing and communication skills.

Qualifications


REQUIRES an accredited Bachelors degree and 3 years of professional experience in the application of contract or code review and compliance; government programs analysis; human relations; civil rights; personnel administration, investigations or grievances; or equal employment claims and investigations which includes supervision or training of staff and stakeholders. (A Juris Doctrate may substitute for one year of experience.)

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
