Cloud Data Engineer Location: US-MD-California Email this job to a friend

CTI is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our fast growing engineering organization. We are looking for highly technical candidates that are passionate about building technology with purpose, can think outside the box, and are excited to work on challenging, innovative, projects as we seek to make the invisible, visible. In this role, you'll be part of a team of software developers building modern, cloud native, software in support of data engineering, advanced analytics, and visualization on a variety of platforms and environments. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging cloud technologies, platforms, containerization, and data ops. They will have a strong understanding of building scalable cloud data infrastructure. This role will be a part of a team that is seeking to push the limits of cloud technologies and build systems that have real impact.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Design and build dimensional data models to improve accessibility, efficiency, and quality of data
- Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices
- Ensure efficient functioning, design and building dimensional data models to improve accessibility, efficiency, and quality of data
- Develop and build data pipelines on cloud and hybrid infrastructure for analytical needs resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
- Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
- Interact with clients including to provide cloud support and assist with data-related technical issues and support based on their data infrastructure needs
- Create custom software components (e.g., specialized UDFs) and analytics applications
Requirements Necessary skills and experience - Experience building pipeline (Kafka Streams, Spark, Flink), techniques, and manipulation including Cloud platforms (AWS), programming languages (Java or Python), and an understanding of software engineering practices
- Experience in SQL database design
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation
- The ability to obtain a US security clearance post start date. U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Beneficial skills and experience - Relevant training and/or certifications as a Cloud Engineer
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, or related work
- Experience with Cloud development on Kubernetes
- Experience with data quality tools such as; Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, etc.
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc
- Good judgment balancing speed of development and long-term code maintainability
- Self-motivation with ability to perform quality work within deadlines and budget with or without direct supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with team members and business partners
