About the Unit/Department/Team The coding team at Lakewood is comprised of both remote and on-site staff who work to ensure the services rendered at Lakewood are coded appropriately for compliance and revenue capture, sustaining the continued high-quality, personalized health care our patients enjoy. Mission for Position Code and enter all patient visits in a correct manner in order to enable LHS to achieve the correct reimbursement for services rendered to sustain high-quality, personalized care. Position Summary Code all patient visits to receive the highest reimbursement that is allowed. Review all patient encounters for diagnosis, procedures and past diseases. Keep the Medical Staff up to date on changes in coding procedures. Work with Medical Staff in determining proper diagnosis by using the coding guidelines. Enter patient charges accurately to reflect their visit Stay current with any changes or updates for the computer software. Work with Information Services to resolve any questions or problems that may arise. Work with Billing Staff on making corrections, working denials and any other billing issues. Keep up to date on coding education and training Use proper telephone etiquette and comply with facility guest relations standards Position Type Full-time, hourly. Remote, on-site or hybrid arrangements available. Qualifications Qualifications Medical Secretary degree preferred. RHIA or RHIT, CCS-P, CPC or CCA degree or certification/registration preferred. Experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
