Pay Rate: $34-$39/Hr.

Holiday Rate: $54-$59/hr.

Job Summary: The Coding Specialist - Certified position is responsible for the accurate and timely coding of intermediate to complex diagnostic, E& M, procedural and surgery services in accordance with current billing, coding regulations and policies. Ensures accurate diagnoses, procedure codes and other specified data to ensure appropriate/optimal reimbursement for facility and/or professional charges utilizing information from medical records and following established methods and procedures. Communicates with Providers and Clinical Personnel regarding proper coding and education.

Education:

Minimum Requirements:

• HS grad or equivalent coupled with CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, CCA, RHIT, and/or RHIA certification.
• Minimum 2 years experience coding; proficient in basic coding and successfully able to handle more complex coding assignments.
• Proficient in CPT and ICD-9-CM coding or professional and medical facility coding.
• Ability to use computer and medical billing systems.
• Strong analytical skills; ability to identify problems or issues and provide positive, results-oriented solutions or outcomes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and highly organized. Able to meet deadlines and achieve results.
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to multi-task.
• Flexible, self-motivated and self-directed; able to take direction.

Preferred:

• Post secondary education with healthcare related curriculum.
• 3 5 years coding experience using CPT/ICD-9 coding in a medical billing environment, including more complex coding.
• EPIC experience highly preferred.
• Experience with provider education.
