The PositionOur bank client is seeking to fill a Commercial Lender role in the Chicago, IL area. The successful candidate will manage an existing or develop a new commercial real estate loan customer base and develops new business from referral sources, designated marketing efforts, and cold calling efforts. The position offers a generous salary of up to $120K plus bonus and a full benefits package. (This is not a remote position). Commercial Lender responsibilities include: - Structuring and successfully negotiating loan transactions with customers and prospects within accepted risk tolerance levels.
- Managing loan renewals and collection efforts on all past due loans and loans in default in a timely manner and maintaining a high level of asset quality within a designated portfolio.
- Meeting specific loan origination and deposit growth performance expectations including Commercial Loan Portfolio Growth (Gross), Increase Gross Depository Relationship, and a minimum number of sales calls per week.
- Managing daily overdrafts, providing quality customer service, and answering customer inquiries or directing/referring them to appropriate personnel/third-party vendors.
- Reporting Management issues, new developments, and market conditions as needed.
- Receiving, previewing and conducting initial viability analysis on loan applications and related documents.
- Ensuring that applications are complete as to core requirements and that all other initial items have been received or requested prior to submission to underwriting.
- Reviewing and presenting loan presentations to supervisor, providing a review of loan documents, and providing a final review of all other related loan documentation and closing items.
- Maintaining database software pipeline to record calling and sales efforts.
- Following up with the customer or designated representative whenever the customer/representative provides an inadequate response, or insufficient information, or does not respond in a timely manner to personnel through the underwriting and closing process as well as ongoing portfolio management.
- Preparing management reports as needed.

You also bring the following skills and experience: - Bachelors Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; five years related credit experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years of relevant commercial real estate credit experience, preferably in a bank or commercial finance company environment, sourcing and underwriting all types of commercial real estate investor-owned properties including multifamily, retail, light industrial, medical office, and multi-tenant retail.
- Some exposure and experience with Capital Market Products are a plus.
- Credit analysis experience.
- Loan documentation skills.
- Strong analytical ability with effective written and verbal communication skills required.
- Efficient use of Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
