Geomagical Labs is building 3D experiences for millions of users around the world, in partnership with IKEA.

Our industry-leading IKEA Kreativ app allows customers to scan photorealistic models of their spaces, then decorate them with 3D products, through life-like mixed-reality web & mobile apps --- improving home commerce along the way.

We are looking for a highly diligent and detail-oriented 3D asset quality control specialist, with a passion for consumer applications and new technology, to join our Cloud Graphics engineering team.

In this hands-on role, you will improve our products by continuously producing, optimizing, inspecting, correcting our 3D GLTF furniture catalog models & 2D annotations and ray-traced renders. You will run our 3D asset pipeline and ray traced render pipeline, "like a business" --- processing, conditioning and hands-on quality checking models for visual aesthetics, metadata labeling, size, mesh defects, texture & material deficiencies at multiple levels of detail. Along the way, you will grow your knowledge & capabilities in the area of 3D graphics & visual AI data.

NOTE: This is not a management role. You will be a hands-on technical artist, directly producing, optimizing and quality controlling 3D models & 2D renders as a key member of our Cloud Graphics team.

Responsibilities

In the role of 3D Asset Quality Specialist you will hands-on produce & quality control our 3D & 2D data:

• Produce, condition, & QA 3D models and 2D renders, reliably, "like a business".
• Use tools to produce & QA 50,000+ attractive 3D furniture models, in multiple LODs.
• Use tools to ray trace & generate thousands of IKEA Kreativ interactive showrooms.
• Hands-on QA 3D GLTF assets for size, metadata & visuals (bad textures or meshes).
• Hands-on QA the function & visual aesthetics of our IKEA Kreativ 3D showrooms.
• Hands-on check & correct meta-data associated with our 3D catalog items.
• Repair & customize 3D art using Blender & 3ds Max.
• Grow internal AI training data sets using in-house annotation tools & by managing AI annotation vendors.
  
• Document & report metrics about production and quality.

Requirements

• 1-2 years experience doing 3D QA or asset production in the software industry.
• Highly-motivated, detail-oriented, "gets things done", doesn't bore easily.
• Understands technical internals of 3D models (mesh, UVs, maps, normals).
• Analytical, organized, strong with data & spreadsheets.
• Some experience working with 3D model art & tools (e.g. Blender, 3ds Max).
• Emotionally intelligent, with excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Work authorization required - we cannot apply for work visas for this role.
• BONUS: Python programming proficiency is a desirable nice-to-have.
• This is a contract position, with potential for growth.
