Our partner is currently seeking a skilled Data Center Technician and Embedded Device Administrator located in Sunnyvale, CA. This exciting opportunity involves joining a distributed Platform Team contributing to the development of a secure real-time middleware platform with exceptional scalability and performance. The role revolves around providing crucial support for maintaining and enhancing products across diverse platforms and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume a leadership role in advancing our embedded lab.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of embedded systems at our Sunnyvale HQ lab, which supports over 70 different architectures.
  • Take charge of creating and configuring bootloaders, as well as building and configuring embedded kernels for various RTOS. Additionally, you'll be responsible for integrating these kernels into automation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with OS and tools partners to effectively address any toolchain or operating system issues.
  • Utilize your platform expertise to assist the platform team members and the wider development team in troubleshooting platform-specific issues.
  • Ensure high availability of the lab's embedded systems by establishing monitoring capabilities and automation protocols.
  • Strategize and execute upgrades for the embedded lab infrastructure.
  • Collaborate seamlessly across departments, maintaining strong communication with IT and other teams.

Requirements

  • Must qualify as a US Person.
  • Demonstrable experience in hardware setup.
  • Strong enthusiasm for operating systems and embedded systems, with a plus for prior experience in creating/configuring operating systems and kernels (e.g., QNX, VxWorks, Integrity, LynxOS).
  • Familiarity with system generation and configuration, including bootloaders, Yocto images, and system startup routines.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix/Windows/MacOS IPv4 network configuration, host routing tables, and some familiarity with subnets, VLANs. Additional credit for familiarity with 802.1q VLAN tagging, IPv6, and multicast.
  • Proficiency in utilizing infrastructure automation frameworks like Ansible/Puppet/Chef/Salt.
  • Familiarity with shell scripting languages (Python, Tcl, Expect, Perl).
  • Basic knowledge of C programming and makefiles.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel within a highly distributed team environment.
  • Experience level ranging from 1 to 6 years (entry to mid-level).

Compensation:

The offered salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $135,000 and is based in Sunnyvale, California. Please be aware that this range pertains exclusively to the base salary and does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits. The final compensation will be determined based on factors like work location, skills, experience, and education.
