Samsung SDS America is looking for a night-shift Data Center Technician to support, maintain, manage, troubleshoot, and execute data center projects for our growing team at Samsung Semiconductor Manufacturing facility in Austin, TX.

As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for first-level support, security, auditing, inventory management, data center infrastructure management and documentation. This is a great opportunity to start and grow your IT career in semiconductor industry.

We are looking for someone who can follow SOPs, has the right work attitude, willing to help others, sense of responsibility, passion for networks, and a desire to learn. This role will adhere to all Samsung policies, follow procedures, and be flexible with schedule per job demands. This will be a non-travel, night-shift working 12 hour shifts to provide coverage on nights/weekends/holidays, and occasional day shift support per business needs.

This role will be working fully onsite Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 6:45pm to 7:15am. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential to live within 1 hour driving distance from Austin, TX.

Requirements

The first-level support team's primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Hardware Maintenance (Repair and replace faulty parts)
  • Hardware Installation (Install, rack, and mount servers and switches)
  • Monitoring (Observe, record, and report on temperature and humidity levels) Security
  • Enforce and maintain Data Center security standards
  • Provide escort to Data Center and supporting secured areas
  • DC Floor Management & Planning
  • Monitor PDU Power Communication
  • Routinely inspect Data Center and equipment in key audit areas of security, signage, labels, equipment placement, and alerts
  • Ensure all equipment is labeled per standard and contains current information
  • Implement remediation plans for any noted audit deficiencies
  • Adopt the 6S strategy: sort, straighten, shine, standardize, and sustain with safety
  • Maintain accurate records Spare Parts, Equipment, and Tools
  • Utilize the DCIM software to perform job duties
  • Basic troubleshooting, escalation to the team within SLA, keeping up with communication until ticket resolution
  • Provide timely and clear communication to end-users, stakeholders, and other support teams about incident status and progress
  • Respond to incidents within SLA
  • Follow SOPs, create reports as requested, update management systems, and effectively communicate with team members and management
  • Creation of daily pass down report

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a computer technician or in a similar role
  • Associate degree in IT related field
  • Proficiency in computer operating systems, such as MS Windows, and Red Hat Linux
  • Exceptional working knowledge of computer systems, including networks, servers, and system maintenance
  • Good understanding of computer equipment, including laptops, servers, printers, and routers
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to stay up to date with the latest advancements in hardware and software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications is a plus
  • Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).

At Samsung SDS America, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

This role is eligible for overtime pay, as well as night shift differential.
