IT Concepts is looking for an experienced Data Operations Specialist to support Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB). As a Data Operations Specialist, you will work with a team of consultants, engineers, and analysts to identify the business requirements to migrate CFPBs data to the cloud while continuously improving data quality, security and integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with data architects, business users, and business managers to:
    • identify and develop data processing procedures, metrics, and standards.
    • develop and analyze requirements for implementing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) techniques and data processing for large scale migrations.
    • support data management needs
  • Transfer data between environments such as external file transfer, internal databases, and file systems.
  • Process and analyze data including, but not limited to, financial market data, consumer complaints data, and operational data that is under the jurisdiction of CFPB.
  • Perform data quality assurance tasks such as writing data validity, consistency, and completeness checks.
  • Document and maintain operating procedures and data governance protocols.
  • Manage PostgreSQL database configuration and orchestration.
  • Administration and user support for databases (Such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.), analytics applications (Such as R, Python, SAS, STATA, MATLAB, etc.), and operating systems (Windows, Linux, or Mac).
  • Management of data services using Cloud offerings in AWS.
  • Lead by example and pitch in to enable successful and seamless client delivery.

Requirements

  • Total of 2+ years experience as a Data Operations Specialist
  • 2+ years of experience leveraging Postgres in a parallel processing environment
  • 2+ years of experience in Python and cloud-based SDKs for data manipulation, scripting, and automation
  • Strong understanding of database concepts.
  • Experience with one or more dialects of SQL.
  • Experience implementing data observability (understanding of data health and performance) in a cloud environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services relevant to data management such as Amazon S3, AWS RDS, Amazon CloudWatch, etc.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL processes and data pipelines in a cloud environment, such as building DAGs in tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration and data pipelines management.
  • 2+ years of experience coordinating and managing data intakes into cloud storage and data platforms using tools like AWS DataSync.
  • Experience automating data transfers using file transfer technologies such as SFTP, AWS native services, or other cloud offerings.
  • 2+ years of experience monitoring and providing triage and issue support for a cloud data and analytics environment.
  • Experience supporting operational data management including access controls, coordination between various teams, and ensuring consistent availability of high-quality data.
  • Experience developing or leveraging tools to provide automated monitoring capabilities for cloud data environments including data platforms and data pipelines.
  • Experience managing processes to handle data exceptions, quality issues, and control of data change management.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Determining and prioritizing work tasks, including identifying and proposing solutions for optimizations.
  • Documenting and recommending best practices and articulating process improvements and required changes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to data management challenges.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or Snowflake. Experience with Unity Catalog in Databricks is a plus.
  • Previous experience with large-scale data migrations and cloud-based data platform implementations.
  • Experience developing data management and governance policies or coordinating and partnering with responsible parties.
  • Experience with Postgres database administration, optimization, and data extraction.
  • Migrating data from local server environments to a modern cloud environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), including the movement of large amounts of data.
  • Working with compliance teams such as Cybersecurity and Privacy to ensure data systems meet security and privacy requirements.
  • Experience establishing service level agreements/objectives and monitoring the effectiveness of procedures to facilitate the resolution of compliance issues with data owners and data stewards.
  • Experience assessing data quality performance against data governance operational metrics.
  • Experience managing code in GitHub or other similar tools.
  • Experience with Shell scripting.
  • Experience with GoClientDelivery.

Clearance requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
