Position Overview:

STEMBoard is seeking a Data Product Manager to support the SOCOM CDO Data Stewardship program by working with the government customer and specialized teams to address data governance, set standards, and make SOCOM more data capable as an organization. Product Managers will collaborate with teams on various projects and coordinate efforts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of data Stewards in the development of the program and data analytics projects.
  • Working with the government customer to determine needs/expectations for projects.
  • Translating program requirements into technical specifications and actionable functions for teams.
  • Planning and designing data engineering product roadmap.
  • Running design sprints following the Agile methodology.
  • Prioritizing product features and communicating the reason behind functions to the stakeholders.
  • Defining and tracking success metrics for team performance.
  • Communicating effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ensuring timely completion of products and timelines are being met.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including product, data and design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1+ years of experience with product/project management or related IT management experience.
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in STEM with a preference towards Data Science, Computer Science, or Software Engineering if preferred but not required.
  • Experience with lean startup principles and agile software development.
  • Experience launching new products as well as improving existing ones.
  • Experience leading or supporting user research.
  • Able to work closely and communicate with designers and engineers within a balanced team.
  • Able to facilitate meetings and ensure the expected outcome is met.
  • Able to break down complex problems into small measurable parts, build feature stories, and prioritize the backlog.
