Role Description As a Data Scientist Intern, you will: - Strategic problem solving with exceptional peers who are also passionate about data - Handling large datasets, sifting for patterns and trends and translate those insights into technical solutions and education materials - Facilitating pilots and proof of concept trials for potential product enhancements - Tracking product performance (through data collection, dashboard visualization, and qualitative customer feedback) to evaluate impact and areas for enhancement. - Learning about the latest trends in fraud and cybersecurity. - Gaining subject matter knowledge on cybersecurity best practices and common types of fraud. - Committed mentoring and training by an experienced and driven leadership team - Cross-functional collaboration with others throughout Mastercard
Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date of December 2024 - July 2025 - Hands-on experience with SQL, Python - Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Plotly - Familiarity with machine learning library such as Scikit-Learn or XGBoost - Ability to execute basic data analysis and modeling directly with relevant tools (e.g. Pandas, SQL, etc) - Demonstrated basic knowledge of statistical, analytical techniques, coding, and data manipulation - Conversant with data: comfortable working with data sets of varying sizes, able to generate descriptive statistics and find simple patterns - Bonus: knowledge of and experience with machine learning models - Desire to work with data and help businesses make better data-driven decisions - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities - Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
