Our Database Administrator works to support the organizations technology needs by managing our Microsoft SQL servers in our production and non-production environments. An ideal candidate will be curious and have exceptional problem-solving ability. Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with technical and non-technical team members, is a must.

This position is considered hybrid,' meaning you will work from home and in-office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to production.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security.
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Independently analyze and solve issues as soon as possible.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and provide guidance regarding accepted SQL coding practices.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability, reliability and provide trending information for capacity planning
  • Monitor system alerts to troubleshoot and resolve database related issues
  • Monitor and manage the database backup, restore and retention processes
  • Perform regular performance audits and remediate any potential issues
  • Perform system maintenance and upgrades, including operating system updates, hot fixes and security configuration changes for Microsoft SQL and SharePoint servers
  • Make recommendations regarding new equipment, upgrades and software updates
  • Work within the established change management process to ensure awareness, approval and success of the changes being made
  • Work with vendors and IT personnel to resolve issues and plan future changes

Requirements

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience to include a Bachelors Degree in Business or a technical discipline supplemented by college level course-work in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field
  • 3 to 5 years experience providing SQL database and systems support
  • Experience installing and supporting Windows based servers and Microsoft SQL server and SharePoint
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio, SQL SSRS, Power BI Report server
  • Experience with SQL Server performance, optimization techniques and SQL upgrade advisor
  • Familiarity with SQL index maintenance
  • Familiarity with 3rd party backup tools like Red Gate
  • Experience with system monitoring and reporting tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Microsoft SQL certifications a plus
