Who you are:

Are you a compassionate outgoing team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills? We are looking for someone who truly desires to deliver an exceptional client experience and commits to produce the highest standard of patient care in a high volume, fast paced environment.

The ICU Nurse provides consistent, informed, compassionate care for multiple hospitalized patients. The ICU nurse must hold to the highest standards of integrity and excellence(link removed)>


1 year minimum ICU/Critical care experience required. CVT required or 3+ years experience.

Duties as a Team Captain (but not limited to)

  • Actively monitors and keeps doctors informed of hospitalized patient condition and progress.
  • Operates hospital equipment efficiently and keeps equipment clean and in good working condition.
  • Can perform physical assessments including triage of emergent patients; record observations in the computer and on treatment sheets, provide supportive care and assist veterinarians as needed.
  • Gives SQ, IM and IV injections.
  • Understands usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients.
  • Understands usage, dosage, and common side-effects for all commonly used injectable drugs in the ICU (analgesics, antibiotics, fluid therapies, etc.) and gives each drug according to ICU protocol.
  • Can assist the veterinarian in medical and surgical procedures; prepares patients for surgery; administers anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids. Can help with neonatal resuscitation during C-sections.
  • Can perform emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, opening airways, and external cardiac massage.
  • Can perform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records.
