Job Duties: Responsible for providing general and specialized dentistry services to patients. Examine patients teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments. Advise patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services. Formulate plan of treatment for patient's teeth and mouth tissue. Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services. Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures. Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications. Analyze or evaluate dental needs to determine changes or trends in patterns of dental disease. Clean, extract, and replace teeth using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medication, and surgery. Provide administrative supervisory duties as required.
Minimum Requirements: Doctor in Dental Medicine or Dental Surgery (DDS/DMD) from an accredited U.S. Dental Program and (1) license in good standing to practice dentistry in the State of South Carolina (2) current on continuing education (CE) requirements.
