  • Compensation: $90,000-$115,000
  • Travel/Location: Remote with travel up to 50% travel/deployment.

Mission of Role/Position Summary

Be part of a team of knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful allies for our clients. This position will support and serve as a team leader and project manager for critical recovery projects, advising and guiding our clients through FEMA Public Assistance and other FEMA grant programs. This position plays a critical role as a team leader and subject-matter expert for the Recovery Division and within the company. The Deputy Director for Recovery will be responsible for leading and developing employees as well as providing critical support for Recovery Division growth. The position will be guided in all activities by ACDCs Corporate Values Platform.

Requirements

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the Recovery Division efforts by building enduring, authentic relationships with key stakeholders and clients to support long-term success in Recovery, to include Public Assistance, Individual Assistance, etc.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of policy developments relevant to the division to ensure all project goals are met.
  • With the Director of Recovery, participate in the development, review, and management of the strategy, budget, and business development for the Recovery Division.
  • Assist in business development proposal development and review as needed based on subject matter expertise.
  • Attend conferences, networking events and participate in speaking engagements on behalf of the company as needed.
  • Manage applicable contracts for the Recovery Division.
  • Serve as a project manager or assigned role to support any client and company needs or activations.
  • Develop strategic direction for Recovery Division staff, programs, and project management.
  • Oversee the supervision of staff and provides direct supervision including conducting performance evaluations, training, hiring, and discipline and termination procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison and representative with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist all divisions with direct client deliverable as needed and ensure all deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Provide specialized and technical guidance regarding processes, programs, functions, and initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations to clients and participates in client meetings, as needed.
  • Participate in deployment teams to assist clients in emergency situations and/or activations.
  • Pursue education and certification opportunities to maintain and develop knowledge throughout the team.
  • Provide oversight and/or management to ensure smooth operation from planning to implementation under tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Provide project status updates and situational awareness, internally and externally, as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong supervisory and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of FEMA Public Assistance and other FEMA grant programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, problems, and techniques of organizing, planning, and coordinating municipal emergency management programs.
  • Advanced Knowledge of significant developments, policies and trends in disaster recovery.
  • Advanced Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Skill in managing grant programs, including application development and financial activities.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with discretionary knowledge.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize many tasks and projects and communicate effectively to a broad range of audiences.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver visually appealing written reports, public presentations, and recommendations.
  • Proven track record of meeting goals and driving business results through team leadership.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience/Education Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in emergency management or a related field.
  • Years of experience can substitute for education requirement on a year for year basis on top of the requirements.
  • 8+ years of related experience in Emergency Management with at least 5 years of FEMA Public Assistance experience in various phases.
  • 2-5+ years minimum experience direct people leader experience.
  • 2-5+ years' experience managing complex FEMA Public assistance or other FEMA grant projects and teams.

Experience/Education Preferred:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a managerial capacity that directly related to this position (FEMA PA).
  • Consulting Experience preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Business Development experience preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.
  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for prolonged periods of time.

Physical Demands:

  • May require sitting or standing at hours for a long period of time.
  • Mobility around client sites necessary.
  • May require long hours at a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds repetitively as needed.

Working Environment:

  • Home Office unless required to attend meetings at a client site or deployed to a client site.
  • Deployment may require work in austere locations and various weather conditions.
  • All ACDC positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
  • All ACDC positions require travel to client sites or for emergency activations/deployments, as requested.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass background check upon offer of employment.

Work Authorization

  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
