Do you want to be involved in launching a space plane into space? Do you have a keen eye for detail? We are looking for you!

  • As a Design Checker II, you will assist with examining engineering drawings/models and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design.
  • These cover a very wide range, from state of the art mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems.
  • You'll be responsible to ensure drawing completeness, clarity, dimensional accuracy, ASME Y14.5 conformance and conformity to design/drafting standards and specifications.
  • You'll help to identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in designs.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 3 years of relevant experience

  • A higher level degree may substitute for experience

  • Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices

  • Experience with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 GD&T) principles

  • Experience collaborating with teams on various projects

  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware and or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes

  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

Preferred:

  • Exposure to Documentation Control Database and/or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) Systems

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense and/or US Military
