Who We Are

TheIncLab is the first human-centered artificial intelligence experience (AI+X) lab. TheIncLabs award-winning, multi-disciplinary team is focused on designing and developing AI-enabled systems that learn and collaborate with humans. The company offers its clients comprehensive capabilities for rapid ideation, software development, and the building of smart systems and hardware solutions. Its open, scalable AI architecture approach, combined with years of experience in interactive engineering and emerging technology innovation, allows for rapid prototyping and deployment of transformational concepts, products, and solutions designed to work with meaningful human interaction, effectively bridging the gap between humans and intelligent systems.

Job Description

As a Design Strategist and UX Researcher, you will help identify and build software applications focused on meeting our client needs using human-centered design practices. You will drive research activities, derive insights, generate concepts, and communicate those concepts. You will support program and product owners in capturing the strategy, scope, and plan for creating or modernizing functions. You will design user engagement at all stages of development, from the initial framing of an idea to testing its implementation. You will work with a team of designers to prototype concepts. You will work with business analysts to derive requirements. You will communicate with developers as they are building solutions. In coordination with product owners and with the support of the development teams, you will solve large complex problems and develop a deep understanding of the client's goals, practices, and standards.

As a driver of a cross-functional design, you will be responsible for synthesizing insights from data to design the features of the product and how people, products, and technology come together to provide value to our customers. A successful candidate will have experience and proven ability to document the customer experience with human-centric tools and methods to identify and quantify gaps and opportunities, then work collaboratively to ideate and prototype solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Application of human-centric approaches and operationalizing data to drive exceptional applications for our customers.
  • Define, execute, and create research methods appropriate for project, including but field research, surveys, lab studies, and customer interviews.
  • In collaboration with Product Owners, plan and lead and execute cross-functional design thinking sprints and workshops, working backwards from the customer through discovery, design, and execution to identify innovations that meet defined strategic goals, drive desired outcomes, and deliver measurable results.
  • Independently translate data and insights into measurable customer experience outcomes and action plans aligned to business goals to uncover and prioritize opportunities to improve.
  • Effectively apply project management skills across difficult initiatives; define and communicate a clear, comprehensive roadmap and schedule, and drive the design review cycle to close on design requirements with limited guidance.
  • Optimize procedures, process, and best practices, working collaboratively with other teams at TheInclab, leveraging existing templates and data to incorporate user feedback, technical constraints, business analytics, and usability findings into design and to keep other teams informed.
  • Define, measure, and analyze post-launch metrics to continuously optimize design and end to end experience.
  • Conduct UX research through heuristics analysis, usability testing, interviews, card sorting, and other industry methodologies.
  • Identifying where challenges for our clients originate and how they are similar or different across user groups.
  • Incorporate quantitative and qualitative UX research methodologies to convey complex technical and business requirements.
  • Analyze research findings and prepare high-impact reports and presentations for clients.
  • Creating human-centered design resources that articulate and help identify relevant touchpoints, map user and service workflows and information architecture, and identify potential bottlenecks and negative customer experience points.
  • Creating lightweight prototypes to illustrate and test product concepts and assumptions.
  • Supporting engagements with clients to provide transparency and ensure alignment with project missions and strategies.
  • Sharing best practices and lessons learned across the program and contributing to and following program design standards.
  • Supporting program and/or project requirements captured by working closely with program and product owners to synthesize human-centered design practices with client and program considerations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in design, technology, human-computer interaction (HCI), behavioral/social science, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a design strategist or service designer running experimental research on digital products and services and delivering end-to-end design solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience using best practices for user-centered design processes like Design Thinking, and project management like Agile, as well as knowledge of user experience principles, techniques, and tools like personas, customer journey maps, storyboards, and service blueprints.
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Virtual Whiteboarding tools (i.e. Miro).
  • Facilitation skills and experience leading diverse teams through iterative, design-thinking sprints and workshops.
  • Experience driving a large cross-functional workstream with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with the full range of research methods: qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral, with deep expertise in one or more areas.

Benefits
