Description/Comment:

  • Hiring a Development Scientist II to assist with lab management of the next generation of automated immunoassay test instruments. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be a part of a rapidly growing industry working on the cutting edge of medical diagnostic technologies in a research and development environment.
    • The primary responsibility for this position is to work with a dedicated staff of engineers and scientists to ensure instruments are compliant to begin verification and validation testing.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain instrument weekly maintenance solutions
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on instruments
  • Perform calibration/system check procedures on instruments and perform simple analysis on associated data (averages, standard deviations, etc.)
  • Manipulating pipettes and performing sample dilutions and aliquoting according to written procedures.
  • Monitor general lab supplies (lab consumables, instrument consumables, and instrument maintenance supplies)
  • Lead on reagent procurement. Order reagents as needed, receive reagent orders, manage budget/track purchases
  • Create and maintain an instrument allocation spreadsheet for all instruments to prioritize scheduling for instrument upgrades and other planned/unplanned work and schedule long-term verification/validation studies, thermal studies, stability studies, etc.
  • Assist in instrument triage (able to quickly determine which instrument is available and in the correct configuration if an allocated verification instrument suddenly becomes unavailable)
  • Lead daily instrument allocation meetings and prioritize service & support on instruments
  • Responsible for temperature-controlled reagent storage/organization and environmental monitoring system phone calls
  • Perform regular configuration compliance audits of instruments (correct software/hardware are on instruments, configuration log books are being updated, customer maintenance is being executed)
  • Perform regular instrument utilization audits to determine actual use time.
  • Track associated metrics and accountability/enforcement of people not using instrument(s) for allocated time
  • Perform regular lab safety audits and conduct applicable safety trainings for new associates
  • Create/maintain lab user and safety training SOPs
  • Position Requirements

    • Biomedical Engineering or other engineering degree, Biochemistry, Biology or equivalent (Bachelor's with 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters with 0-2 years of experience)
    • Knowledge and experience working in a medical laboratory
    • Self-starter, works with a focused sense of urgency to resolve issues and complete projects
    • Experience with data collection and analysis using validated tools or macros
    • Knowledgeable with design and development in a regulated environment
    • Able to troubleshoot/analyze problems, and make corresponding recommendations
    • Work well with others, coordinate efforts with own and other departments
    • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
