PCDA is a non-profit multidisciplinary agency that provides a range of services for children, from birth to 21 years of age with autism and other developmental disabilities, using the DIR/Floortime developmental play-based approach. (For more information please (link removed))



Utilizing a DIR/Floortime® relationship based approach, PCDA is an innovator in multidisciplinary team services and training that recognize the importance of supporting the ‘whole child’ and special relationships with parents, siblings, other caregivers, and friends. The PCDA professional team works together to understand children and families, and our specialists work closely with parents and caregivers, and assist other professionals to understand the unique needs of each child and how to best support his/her growth and development.



Our child developmental interventionists are involved in providing early intervention, school aged intervention, social skills services, and teen and young adult interventions and community integration services.



Under the direction and guidance of Program Supervisor and Program Assistants, a DI-I is responsible to:




  • Provide developmental assessment and developmental, play-based/relationship-based intervention for a caseload of children (birth to 21 years of age), and their families, in various PCDA programs, utilizing DIR/Floortime methodology and strategies.

  • Conduct services in a variety of settings, including client homes, community childcare/school settings, PCDA office, and/or other approved settings.

  • Attend and participate in all training and clinical supervision meetings as required

  • Maintain on-going communication with Program Supervisors, Program Assistants, and other team members, and follow-up recommendations

  • Identify own clinical support needs



Qualifications and Requirements:




  • B.A. degree in child development, early childhood education, or related field (or within six months of completion of B.A.)

  • Child development course work and work experience with young children required.

  • Work experience with children, who have challenges in development/special needs, and their families.

  • Bilingual verbal fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Korean highly desirable.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate ideas clearly, and understanding of cross-cultural differences required.

  • Friendly, positive demeanor and professional maturity required. Desire and physical ability to play on the floor necessary.

  • California driver’s license, reliable automobile and current automobile insurance required.

  • California Department of Justice/FBI criminal clearance, TB clearance, or completion of medical treatment, and CPR certification required.

  • Interest in long-term employment preferred.





Work Hours:



The DI position is part-time (25 hours/week) to start, but on an individual basis, may potentially increase to full-time (36-40 hours/week)



During your interview, it is important to inform us if you wish to build up to full-time status. Employees who work 30 or more hours/week are eligible for medical, vision, and dental care benefits (after one full calendar month at this schedule). Additional benefits are available to full-time employees, working 36-40 hours/week. Our Employee Policy Handbook contains specific details regarding benefits and eligibility.



For the first pay period of employment the schedule is 36 hours per week to encompass the intensive training. Beginning the second pay period of employment the position is scheduled for 25 hours per week.



Your schedule will be based on mutual agreement between your requested (available) hours and the agency needs. You are required to work during all of the scheduled hours. In the event of a No Show or Cancelled client sessions, you are expected to perform other assigned duties. In addition to direct client services, work activities may include work-related travel time, e.g., between homes or schools, as well as, set-up and clean-up time, trainings, and meetings and report writing. It is our intent to establish a regular work schedule by mutual agreement within your requested time and availability for work. Your signature on the agreed work schedule document indicates your availability for work assignments during this time.



Intensive Specialized DI-I Training Requirement:



New employees are provided an intensive, specialized training program during the first month of employment. Additional information is provided during the interview process.





Pay:



Pay compensation is provided semi-monthly. Pay compensation for this position is hourly, non-exempt and includes clinical services, travel and administrative time. Pay compensation is hourly with a range of $16.50-$18.00, depending on second language, Master’s degrees, and/or years of experience. Standard deductions are made for taxes and other withholdings as required by law or the policies of PCDA. Note the office is closed one week at the end of December each year. Full-time employees (36+ hours/week) may use this as accrued paid vacation, personal time or unpaid time off. For Part-time employees this is unpaid time off. You will receive mileage reimbursement based on standard rates, a monthly phone stipend, email, voice mail, and available computers at the office. Most importantly, and unique to PCDA, you will receive ongoing training and support from a multidisciplinary team of child development specialists, who share a wealth of experience, commitment to utilizing DIR/Floortime, and who work together to provide the highest quality services to children and their families.
