Position: Directional Drill Operator

Location:

• Based in Indianapolis, IN
• Partial travel required for various projects in the region.

Type:

• Hourly, (W-2)
• Full Time

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly, negotiable based on experience.
• Starting at $25, depending on experience and knowledge.

Responsibilities:

• Operates Vermeer directional drills on job site including calibration of locator and drill head.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on drilling machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
• Monitor the progress of drilling operations.
• Keep records of all drilling operations.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Potholes, windows, and identifies all utilities in the construction area and bore path.
• Proper restoration of job site
• Ability to follow simple instructions and proper safety procedures while working alongside other crew members.
• Responsible for site set up and clean up.
• Ability to load materials.
• Ability to safely and correctly direct multi-directional traffic with appropriate signage

Qualifications:

• 2 to 3 years of knowledge and experience of Vermeer directional bore drill operators
• Valid drivers license required.
• Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of weather, terrain and challenging conditions.
• Must be able to follow directions from Foreman or Supervisor

• Must be able to perform physical labor, this includes things such as to stoop, kneel, crouch, DIG and reach.
• Understanding of the proper care and rotation of rods
• Knowledge of operating Vermeer directional drills and equipment
• Understanding of safety systems and strike alerts associated with the drill including set up and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of unloading, loading and transport drill procedures
• Knowledge to perform daily maintenance on the drill.
• Understanding of support equipment, digging equipment, vacuum-units and reel trailers

Experience:

• directional bore drill operator: 2-3 years (Required)
