We are seeking a Full-Time Director of Assembly to join our lean and agile team. This role will work out of our Mesa, Arizona location at 8127 E. Ray Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212(link removed) The primary purpose of this job is to oversee the assembly and productions operations that occur in their assigned facility. This role requires someone with a well-rounded production background who can work with cross-functional teams to ensure products are produced in a timely manner without sacrificing quality. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be responsible for the performance, productivity, and efficiency of the plant operations team.

General Responsibilities

  • Drive the vision, strategy and leadership for all assembly and production employees.
  • Be a health & safety advocate, partner with the health & safety lead to ensure compliance and develop a culture of health and safety amongst employees.
  • Implement a production strategy that develops best practice policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a high quality of standard of operating procedures.
  • Lead and develop innovative and lean production programs in compliance with EMVs strategy.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement and documentation of all processes and procedure.
  • Monitor assembly times, progress and quality of products.
  • Conduct supplier quality assurance (SQA) inspections. Ensure operations are not negatively impacted by supplier quality issues.
  • Implement and monitor assembly and production quality and cost control programs.
  • Implement and Monitor ERP / MES deployment and usage for the plant ensuring information is entered according to SOP.
  • Ensure the facility is compliant with local and State safety requirements.
  • Effectively space plan to accommodate the Plants scalability as the Plant grows over time.

Team Management

  • Establish a departmental strategy for the creation of an assembly and production department.
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop and forecast a multiple year growth and development plan for your department.
  • Hire, train and develop your employees to create a department of continuous improvement.
  • Establish goals and objectives for the department including, mentoring, training, lead & develop all new/existing team members.
  • Conducts performance appraisals on all direct report's ability to complete their assigned duties effectively.
  • Initiating, sustaining & improving KPI's relating to reduction of Internal, supplier & customer incidents.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Monitor operation output costs. Adjust processes where required to keep costs controlled without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Manage expenditures for equipment and materials for the plant.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as required by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in production operations experience is required for this role.
  • Experience with electric vehicles, specifically high-voltage and battery safety / storage.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • A business degree in operations management or similar field is required for this role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations within an assembly / production / manufacturing plant.
  • Experience in the automotive industry (specifically production) is considered an asset for this role.
  • Experienced with budgeting, planning and meeting financial targets.
  • High Level of Computer Literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite) and familiarity with ERP software.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects at a time is required.
  • Excellent Verbal & Written communication skills builds effective relationships across departments.
  • Team player comfortable consistently working with multiple teams.
  • Initiative to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Legally able to work in the United States of America.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work in an assembly / production setting.
  • Required to wear proper PPE to work in a high-level noise environment.
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to operate a forklift and other heavy machinery.
