About the client:

Life Science People (LSP) are currently working with an exciting Diagnostics company who are working on personalized cancer diagnostics and disease monitoring with a key focus on molecular genetic analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA).

Having recently established a US R&D operation in Cambridge, MA, the team are looking for a Director of Bioinformatics to lead the bioinformatics function globally and expand the team.


This is an exciting opportunity to build a team from the ground-up and work closely with an exceptional R&D and Clinical Development team. As the leader for Bioinformatics, you will have the opportunity to expand the team and build cutting edge bioinformatic approaches. This role will also set the direction of bioinformatics R&D globally and work closely Clinical Development team to support oncologist engagement and study analysis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building innovative analysis methods and wants to grow a team in a high-growth start-up.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Refine and build novel Bioinformatic tools with a focus initially on MRD.
  • Scale and refine our Bioinformatics pipelines and deploy them on AWS.
  • Look holistically at our assays/products and work with the rest of the R&D team and Clinical Operations team to identify innovative solutions to utilize the companys data better.
  • Work with the Lab Operations and Regulatory teams to validate the company bioinformatic tools.
  • Work independently and take ownership of your key areas, reporting to SVP of R&D
  • Build the bioinformatics team, creating a dynamic, innovative, and fast-paced team.


Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in developing NGS analysis methods ideally with a focus on WGS.
  • Deep understanding of cancer genetics.
  • A creative, inventive, and pragmatic approach to scaling bioinformatic solutions.
  • Ideally, a background in working in a regulated environment, ideally CLIA/CAP. Experience in validating NGS or Molecular Biology tools would be advantageous.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to roll up your sleeves - a can do attitude.
