Director of Sacred Music

Functions and Duties of Position:

Full Time Position

The Director of Music will be accountable for all aspects of the music ministry at Saint Rose. The Director of Music will:

Build a choral program which includes volunteer and paid singers.
Works with the School Music teacher to develop the Children's Choir, as well as music for the weekly school Mass.
From both volunteers and paid singers develop the cantor ministry, which includes training and scheduling of the cantors.
The Director of Music will have ultimate responsibility for providing music for:
all weekend and Holy Day liturgies; funerals, weddings; school Masses.
Prepares and provides music for Sunday Vespers during Advent and Lent.
Prepares and provides music for Forty Hours Devotion.
Prepares and provides music for annual Requiem and Remembrance
Hiring paid musicians that are not employees for special liturgical celebrations.
Overseeing maintenance of organ, piano and sound system in the church.
Develops and manages the music budget.
Possess good leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Position Requirements:
Practicing Catholic who desires to be a missionary disciple through helping the congregation pray through Word, Sacrament, and Song.
Respect for and knowledge of the liturgical tradition and doctrine of the Catholic Faith.
Minimum of bachelor's degree in organ/ choral conducting. Superb organ and choral skills are an absolute requirement.
Experience in directing choral music in church.
Experience in administration of music programs, managing organized choirs and working with children, youth, and adult volunteers as well as with professional musicians.
Must work well with others and have a strong work ethic.
Ability to communicate through both written and spoken word.
A team player
The Director of Music reports only to the Pastor, and is a member of the Executive Staff.
