Position Summary:

Are you passionate about ensuring that essential documentation is organized, accessible, and up-to-date in a manufacturing environment? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Documentation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, filing, routing for approval, and distribution of change management documentation, including specifications, manufacturing directions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other controlled documentation supporting manufacturing processes. Additionally, you will oversee the maintenance of support documentation files and ensure proper document retention practices.

Documentation Specialist Responsibilities/Duties:

The successful candidate will:

  • Create documented work instructions, SOPs, and one-point lessons for all departments through physical observation and meticulous documentation.
  • Update documented materials to reflect changes in products or procedures, including the introduction of new equipment.
  • Assist in collecting, maintaining, and distributing documentation for manufacturing and office processes.
  • Develop and maintain a physical and digital filing system to ensure efficient document access.
  • Operate the document control center to ensure that all users have the latest revisions of documentation.
  • Establish a system for regular documentation review and updates, including timely escalation when deadlines are missed.
  • Provide training to new supervisors and managers on documentation processes and remind individuals of records retention strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including training others on known processes.

Documentation Specialist Required Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a process documentation role in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including the ability to create and update templates and insert pictures without compromising the ability to read instructions. #metrocareers
