Growing Places is a nonprofit, healthy food access organization serving North Central MA. Our fun, vibrant team is seeking a driver for our home-delivered produce program and our mobile market. This position delivers direct to households and supports distribution at mobile markets across 20+ diverse North Central MA communities. We use a pre-determined home delivery route and market schedule, and our drivers operate Growing Places vehicles.

This is a year-round part-time 20-30 hour a week position. We are willing to be flexible when setting the initial schedule with the successful candidate. We hope youll read the details of the position below and contact us if youre interested in making a difference in your community!

Duties include:

Transportation and Distribution

  • Distribute produce orders from hubs to spokes and mobile markets
  • Ensure safety standards are upheld at all times

Mobile Markets

  • Load and unload the mobile and/or pop-up markets according to policy and procedure
  • Drive the mobile market according to the daily schedule
  • Ensure that Growing Places mobile market displays a high level of cultural competency, quality and consistency for community members
  • Enforce market policies and guidelines
  • Coordinate nutrition benefits program acceptance (SNAP/HIP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Coupons) on the market

Education and Awareness

  • Promote nutrition benefits program acceptance at markets to reach target populations
  • Collaborate with community partners to host activities / events and increase market participation
  • Identify and integrate additional community resources and cooking demos to enhance the markets experience and mobile market as needed
  • Disseminate information at markets (nutrition, health, nutrition benefits, recipes, sustainability) aligned with Growing Places mission

Data and Reporting

  • Implement data tracking measures at markets according to Growing Places and funders policies and guidelines

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual, Spanish/English given first preference
  • Requires lifting of less than 50 pounds
  • Massachusetts Drivers License and proof of insurance
  • Mission driven individual passionate about the community and local food system
  • Comfortable driving a delivery van, professional driving experience strongly preferred
  • Customer service experience
