HireDirect is seeking driven and experienced EDM Operators for a well-established company in Cullman, Alabama. As an Operator you will be responsible for programming and operating an EDM machine to build tools using engineering work orders as a blueprint. Ensuring quality is priority each time while also achieving time allowances for each assignment. These are Direct Hire opportunities, excellent benefits and competitive compensation package.

DAILY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Program machine using controllers and tool changers;
• Machine carbon under supervision with close attention to health and safety requirements;
• Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance;
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs using provided paper and/or electronic logs;
• Update and maintain the job completion sheet throughout the day

Other duties:

• Ensure all employees follow all safety and company policies.
• Monitor and coach EDM operators on a daily basis to assist them to be more efficient.
• Ensure all EDM operators are meeting the expectations of their job description
• Review the quality of the completed jobs.
• Ensure cleanliness of bays and machinery, maintain good 5 s.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables;
• Using provided tools and machinery, program, setup and operate wire or coolant EDM machines using Cimatron software;
• Verify dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments;
• Set up and adjust production machinery based on engineering requests;
• Review and document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances;
• Responsible for maintaining safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Motivate and mentor EDM Operators in a positive way

As required:

• Assist in the repair of machine tools and parts, as needed;
• Participate in required meetings and training, as requested.
• Identify opportunities for improving quality and reducing hours
• Provide feedback to other departments to improve quality and efficiency
• Provide feedback to the Plant Manager/Operations Manager regarding employee progress
• Responsible for maintaining the equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions, initiating repair work orders, etc;

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required;
• One (1) year or equivalent experience or coursework completed in manufacturing;
• Ability to perform under pressure and work independently
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required
• Ability to ensure quality standards are met
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
• Proficient in time management and communication skills
