This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next East Campus Housing Accountant & Assistant Property Manager who will be all-in on our mission and who will work closely with the property manager, tenants, and others to oversee all aspects of housing rental payments, maintenance and occupancy.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field.

Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two (2) years of business and/or accounting, budgeting or bookkeeping experience.

Preferred: Three (3) or more years of business and/or accounting, budgeting or bookkeeping experience. Two years of experience in management or leadership role.

*Equivalent experience will substitute for education'; similarly, equivalent education will substitute for experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Required: Valid Texas Class C Drivers License with a 3-year safe driving record.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and process cash flow and rental payment collections of new and current East Campus Housing tenants.
  • Reconcile all bank statements for the college on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure tenants rent payments are on-time and proper adherence to lease agreements are being held.
  • Send accounts to credit bureau and to maintain write-off accounts and payments received from the credit bureau.
  • Show houses to prospective tenants and conduct exit walk-throughs.
  • Process purchase orders, requisitions, request for payment, sort, review, and distribute incoming mail; prepare and process outgoing mail.
  • Compose and send letters, memos, reports, and other written communication materials for a variety of audiences,
  • Perform advanced data entry, track and maintain various reports and documents in an organized and accessible manner, and maintain various filing and records management systems.
  • Oversee all processes of the Leasing Specialist.
  • Develop and maintain written procedures for all major aspects of this position positions within the Property Management Department.
  • Train new employees within the Housing Property Management Department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Colleague
  • Excellent Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Possesses knowledge of the real estate industry, including market trends, prices, and state and federal housing regulations.
  • Ability to make solid recommendations, have strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. Self-sufficiency is critical.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules((link removed), Pay grade 11 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: Frequently required to walk the entire property and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines), and may require work outside of the office with little to no supervision.

Travel: Frequent travel is required.
