Aetos Systems, Inc. is looking for a talented and highly creative Education Specialist to support NASAs Glenn Research Center (GRC) Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) in developing innovative, evidence-based strategies to support the engagement of formal and informal youth serving organizations in mission-themed Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver content to educators, students, and informal education communities through public education events, experiential learning opportunities along with design challenges and competitions, student enrichment, and virtual learning.
  • Collect data on activity/project accomplishments and effectiveness through Lessons learned, reports, data collection, and briefings.
  • Create, design, and develop curriculum, guides, lesson plans, support materials, and professional development for formal and informal learning communities.
  • Use knowledge of current best practices and research in implementing NSTEM activities, projects, and programs.
  • Collaborate with NASA mission directorates, academia, government entities, professional and community organizations, and commercial partners to advance NASA's mission and the NSTEM objective.
  • Collaborate with internal and external organizations including NASA mission directorates, NASA subject matter experts, academia, professional, and community organizations to advance NASA's mission and the NSTEM objective.
  • Develop STEM content for students in grades 5-9 with a focus on populations underserved in STEM.
  • Develop and facilitate STEM content for students in grades 512 with a focus on Urban schools as designated by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES).
  • Develop and facilitate Educator Professional Development (EPD) STEM Workshops for teachers and facilitators in public, private, and youth serving organizations for students in grades 9-12.
  • Develop, update, and utilize rubrics to evaluate solicitation proposals.
  • Organize teams to evaluate solicitation proposals and provide reports for recommendations.

Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Teaching Certificate and/or license is required.
  • Masters degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in daily application of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and TEAMS.
  • Knowledge and experience in daily application of Google Docs, Drive, Email, Slides, Sheets, and Meets.
  • Understanding of database design concepts, benefits, and limitations for short-term and long-term planning.
  • Knowledge and experience in daily application of video conferencing platforms to be used for virtual workshops (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
  • Knowledge of the Partnerships in Education and Resilience (PEAR) Dimensions of Success (DoS) student evaluation tools.
  • Knowledge of the use of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Knowledge of the use of the Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products (EQuIP) Science Rubric
  • Strong analytical, communications, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written (writing and editing) communication skills, with technical writing proficiency.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Team player with sound judgment.
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Prepare professional content for social media platforms and webpages.
  • Data collection, tracking, and reporting.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical, communications, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written (writing and editing) communication skills, with technical writing proficiency.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Team player with sound judgment.

Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to pass a background investigation.
