The major function of the Education Specialist is to assist in the planning and implementation of the education program service area. The specific functions of the ECD Specialist are to: (1) provide expert services in the service area; (2) coordinate, monitor, and implement services and activities according to the Early Childhood Development and Health Services Plan; (3) assure their compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations; (4) assure they are in accordance with accepted standards and best practices in the early childhood and education field.
Requirements:
Masters Degree and New York State Permanent Certification in N-6 with specialized preparation for teaching early childhood and infant/toddler education. Three years experience in an Early Childhood Program or working with special needs children.
Or Bachelors Degree in Education. Five years experience in early childhood education and a written plan to meet above requirements.
