Are you the type of person who could easily lose track of time and spend 8-hours figuring out how to take something apart and put it back together, but if asked to spend that same time behind a desk or in-front of a computer, it would feel never ending? It's probably because you're a hands on learner, and if that is the case, then getting involved in an apprenticeship program could be the start of a very successful and enjoyable career for you.
Getting into an apprenticeship program is different than taking on an entry-level, laborer-type, position on any other job site. The expectations are different because the potential rewards are much higher: a good, licensed, fire protection technician can earn great pay, on top of having a company paid vehicle, phone, paid time off, flexible work hours, and other benefits. But it all starts with a willingness to commit the time (4-years), the hard work, and taking comfort from knowing that every licensed tech got their start the exact same way.
