- Lead electrical design projects and direct the daily activities of co-workers assigned to the project which is defined as (but not limited to) development, sales orders, and parts/repair orders:
- Has the authority to direct and dictate design without direct intervention by the Electrical Engineering Manager
- Perform engineering tasks such as creating detailed product specifications, performing calculations and analysis, designing and testing prototype assemblies, creating panel layouts, structuring BOMs and creating detail and assembly drawing and electrical schematics
- Call for design review before releasing assemblies
- Report project status to the Electrical Engineering Manager upon request.
- Assist the Electrical Engineering Manager with estimating hours and personnel required to complete a project, upon request, and responsibly make every reasonable effort to meet these estimates.
- Report projects that are falling behind schedule to the Electrical Engineering Manager in a timely manner so corrective action can be made; offer suggestions on possible solutions.
- Take an active role in order reviews, application reviews, machinery-planning meetings, cost reviews, and completed project reviews.
- Assist assembly floor and manufacturing when called upon to solve electrical engineering problems and take corrective action as deemed necessary.
- Assist the Service Department with problems in the field which may be in the form of in-house activity or travel to the customer’s site; this activity should be discussed with the Electrical Engineering Manager.
- Design electrical system for customer machines.
- Select appropriate electrical component parts
- Design electrical panel layouts
- Develop and draw schematics and other required documentation
- Is self-motivated to adjust schedule to meet design and release deadlines
Education and Experience
- Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or two-year technical degree with eight years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field experience and/or familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one year of AutoCAD experience required.
- Experience and/or familiarity with SolidWorks preferred.
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Able to read, understand, analyze and problem solve electrical drawings and engineering related software programs.
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 79, and Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) 508A.
- Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledgeable about machine control sensing and sizing of servos.
