Founded in 2017, Eden GeoPower develops a technology to address the current financial and environmental challenges in underground energy extraction technologies with novel and groundbreaking ideas. Our goal is to offer a sustainable solution that reduces or eliminates water use, underground water contamination, wastewater production, air pollution, and induced seismicity associated with current fracturing methods. The company has secured funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, MIT, MassCEC, Ameren, and other VC and industry investors. We are looking for a motivated and creative Electrical Engineering Intern to work directly with Edens Engineering team, and our partners at the Pulsed Power Research Group at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center to develop pulsed power and similar laboratory high-voltage equipment for Eden. This equipment will be used to increase the economic recovery of natural earth resources in the mining, geothermal, carbon sequestration, and geologic hydrogen industries. The role will require knowledge of high-voltage, high-power equipment, and we will develop custom pulse and high-voltage equipment for testing in the lab. Tasks: - Assist with designing experiments to evaluate a scientific hypothesis, defining a process to conduct the experiments, and fabricating parts to build and set up the experiments
- Assist with equipment design, data acquisition and control systems
- Assist with data collection, visualization, and analysis
- Assist with software development in the laboratory [e.g., data acquisition and instrumentation control]
- Work with the team developing pulse power and marx generator
- Work with the team to develop safety plan for high-voltage, high-power equipment in the lab
- Prepare reports and presentations for projects as needed
Requirements Qualifications: - M.S. or Ph.D pursing degree in electrical engineering or a related field
- Familiarity with equipment design, fabrication, and troubleshooting. Expertise with CAD/CAM (Solidworks, Fusion360, AutoCAD, preferred) is highly desirable
- Good/Advanced programming skills in Matlab/Python. LabView and C++ are a bonus
- Proficient in fundamental engineering theories, principles, and calculations
- Excellent written and presentation skills, initiative, problem solver, and team player
