Estimator/Project Manager

JMC Electrical Contractor, LLC Charter Township of Clinton, MI

Michigan Electrical Contractor located in the tri-county area is looking to hire a Estimator/Project Manager with experience in the industrial and commercial electrical construction industry in Michigan.

As a member of our project management team, this position will oversee all aspects of assigned projects from commencement to completion. The individual will manage these projects in a manner that exceeds the customers expectations and ensures that the work adheres to all company safety policies and OSHA mandated requirements. In addition, the individual will prepare electrical cost estimates for projects to aid management in bidding on or determining price of construction or service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Guide multiple jobs and multiple job teams operationally in each phase including pre-construction, construction, closeout, and post-construction services
2. Collaborate with Estimating and Purchasing in the up-front set up of projects to insure profitability, client satisfaction, and the best subs for the job
3. Mentor and coach project team to ensure their skills and capabilities are being developed by establishing annual performance goals for each direct report and ensure that goals are established
4. Develop and maintain client and industry relationships at the appropriate levels
5. Communicating effectively with field team members as well as keeping them active in decision-making
6. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction supervision to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
7. Analyze blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
8. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
9. Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
10. Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
11. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
12. Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
13. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
14. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
15. Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to construct or sub-contract components
16. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
17. Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations
18. Work within company policy and in compliment with the Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules

19. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

1. 5+ years of experience in construction management with a commercial electrical contractor
2. A degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred, equivalent experience and training will be considered
3. Experience managing industrial and commercial projects in the Northeastern US
4. Must have ability to achieve and maintain financial control and profit goals for projects
5. Business development/heavy client interaction is a plus
6. Microsoft Office and Computerized Estimating skills. EBM & ProContractor experience a plus
