Electrical Reliability Engineer Location: US-VA-Charlottesville Email this job to a friend

We are seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering Team to provide leadership for electrical system reliability engineering to plant Operations and R&D functions, focusing on identification and implementation of improved methods and strategies for reliability of existing equipment, in addition to design and implementation of new electrical systems required to advance R&D programs and commercial performance. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for the following:
- Be a site technical leader and subject matter expert for electrical systems/equipment, including substations, transformers, electrical switchgear, protection relays, motor control centers, UPS systems, variable frequency drives, control systems, instrumentation, etc.
- Participate in design, and manage implementation of changes/upgrades to electrical equipment and systems
- Assume ownership for electrical reliability programs
- Lead troubleshooting activities and drive resolution of issues, utilizing strong critical and economic thinking skills
- Develop and implement optimization and performance improvement strategies
- Provide technical guidance regarding selection and specification of new electrical equipment
- Provide training on electrical safety and equipment operation/maintenance
- Mentor and coach electrical and instrument technicians with regards to equipment safety, trouble shooting, maintenance etc.
- Global leader for HV/LV Electrical Distribution
- Facilitate global electrical reliability strategy development and comprehensive electrical infrastructure reliability strategies.
- Lead and maintain the global Arc Flash protection program
Requirements Qualifications (Required) - Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated experience with application of current industry standards and technologies within an industrial facility
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E and OSHA electrical compliance standards
- Ability to travel up to 10% of time
Qualifications (Preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience with implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical equipment/systems
- At least 1 year of experience working with Medium Voltage power distribution systems within an industrial facility
- Experience with Industrial motor drives, flowmeters, process control loops
